Local news: Memphis Comedy and Improv Alliance

Memphis Comedy and Improv AllianceGoMemphis.com ("Memphis. Online.") has an article profiling the Memphis Comedy and Improv Alliance, a combination of members from two other Memphis groups, the Wise Guys and Freak Engine. But the registration process at GoMemphis is so onerous, I can't recommend you click on that link.

The Mid-South hasn't been able so far to keep a comedy club open, but two established troupes have combined to create the Memphis Comedy & Improv Alliance (MCIA) in hopes of sustaining a local comedy community.

Performers from Freak Engine and the Wiseguys in one incarnation or another have provided a large slice of the local improv and comedic goings-on in town since 1997.

The groups are staging combined performances, like one tonight at TheatreWorks, meshing improv, stand-up, clowning and short sketches.
