There was a great Chicago Reader article in 2009 when China Place Liquor City opened in Chicago and it took us years to get down there and finally get some bottles and baijiu and then several more to film more Drunk Monkeys and finally try Red Star Erguotou Baijiu on-air for you.
Marolo also makes a wonderful Chamomile Grappa and, spoiler alert, Jen and Erica are not drinking that in this episode. They are trying Marolo Grappa di Barolo. Look, at this point in filming a season, we’re all several drinks into the night, if you know what I mean.
RoseÌ was the trendy flavor of the summer and so Jen and Erica are trying Svedka RoseÌ Vodka, vodka with 5% RoseÌ wine.

Jen and Erica have some trouble saying “Bulle Rock” but they get there while tasting Copper Horse Bulle Rock Gin.
Jen and Erica are trying a Stroop Waffel liqueur available in the US from World Market.
Jen and Erica are starting off the season with a gauntlet! Friend of the show John Mannion, who has his own show John Drinks, sent us a box from Drinks by Dram. The set came with five mini-bottles and we drink them all in a single episode. We plow through:
- Williams Chase Pink Grapefruit Gin
- Chase Eureka Lemon Marmalade Vodka
- Sharish Blue Magic Gin
- Dark Matter Spiced Rum
- Ableforth’s Cold-Distilled Absinthe
Remember when we said we’d be “back in 2018 with more episodes”? Well, 2019 is the new 2018. Anyway, we’ve got eight great episodes in the can and we’ll be releasing them every Friday morning for the next eight weeks.
Jen and Erica finish out 2017 with a double-length special holiday episode—drinking all four mixers from Target’s “Mule Master” holiday mixer gift pack. We’ll be back in 2018 with more episodes. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook for updates.
