Erica’s brother and sister-in-law sent her this Crouch White Rye Whiskey from South Carolina some time ago and she and Jen are finally trying it. Thanks, Christopher and Katie!

Drunk Monkeys - Episode 39 - Risky Whisky.
Friend-of-the-show (and just regular-friend-to-us) Peter Felonk gave us a gift of some Risky? Whisky, a “barrel your own bourbon” kit. We’ve seen home aging kits that have an actual tiny barrel, but they seem to all be over $100. This is a much more affordable solution (around $25) using wood chips in a mason jar. In this episode, Jen and Erica taste the unaged liquor and then start the aging process. We’ll be checking back in on the whisky over the coming months.

Drunk Monkeys - Episode 32 - Cocktail Time! Sazerac.
It's come up a number of times on the show, so Erica shows Jen how to make a Sazerac.
Drunk Monkeys - Episode 27 - Maker's White.
This week, Jen and Erica are drinking another moonshine (or "white dog")--Maker's White. I hate to have to correct the ladies, but Erica refers to Maker's White as a whiskey a couple of times. It's not. As I learned from Death's Door White Whisky, it has to age in barrels for at least 72 hours to qualify as a whiskey. Maker's White makes no such pit stop.Fuzzy asked for the recipe for the Maker's Mark White Whisky Sours--this is the recipe from the label on the bottle:
1 1/2 parts Maker's Mark White Whisky (I used 2 1/2 to 3 oz)
Sour Mix: equal parts simple syrup and lemon juice--I used a mix of lemon and lime juice for mine. (I used 2 oz of each)
A pinch of sea salt
Then I put it in a shaker with some ice, gave it a good swirl, poured all it if into a large rocks glass, and topped with club soda (courtesy of our Soda Stream).
HOOBOY it is good!
Word of warning: You will think that you need more than one, but in fact, you don't. Or maybe you do...
