A Boy and a Bear in a Boat

I had some problems with A Boy and a Bear in a Boat in terms of plot resolution and character motivation. But it’s a book for 8 year-olds, so um, maybe I’m asking a bit much of it. It’s certainly true that it delivers on all three elements specified in the title. A boy gets a ride in a boat from a bear and the planned short journey takes quite a bit longer than planned.
