I was intrigued by Louis CK's interview on the Sound of Young America -- especially the notion that he explores offensive words precisely because they do make people really mad. So I found his One Night Stand appearance and his comedy special Shameless. I think it's better to watch Louis CK's standup than just listen to it. When he says his most outrageous and incendiary things (which he does a lot), he always follows it up with an impish grin as if to say, "I'm just joshing." And I do like that as angry as his comedy is, much of it is directed back at himself.

Russell Peters is incredibly personable. And he sure can do a lot of accents.

When I think about it, I'm not sure why I like Brian Regan so much. His jokes are pretty simple, and half his act consists of an exaggerated mugging that I'm not really into. But the fact remains that he makes me laugh. Someone loaned David I Walked on the Moon and we all watched it tonight. Funny stuff, and clean, too, if that's important to you. FuzzyCo grade: B.

I saw David O'Doherty do his show "World Champion of Some Things" at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2004 and I was an instant fan. English (and Irish, I guess) comedy has a delightful space in-between what we would call "stand-up comedy" and "a one man show" and that's where David and his "Very Low Energy Musical Whimsey (VLEMW)" reside. So, anyway, I'd call myself a fan, but as I haven't been back to Edinburgh nor Ireland since 2004, I've had to content myself with memories of the show. Now, however, David has finally released an album, recorded in his flat in front of a few friends: Giggle Me Timbers (Jokes Ahoy!). There are some songs (the aforementioned VLEMW) and some jokes and remarkably little pirate material.
